Heat Treatment of WPHY 52 Fittings
WPHY 52 Pipe fittings are manufactured as per MSS SP 75 shall be furnished in the heat treated condition. Hot formed fittings temp need be cooled below the lower critical temperature prior to heat treatment. WPHY 52 Fittings are recommended be heat treated by one or more of the following procedures: annealing (stress relieving), normalizing, normalizing and tempering, quenching and tempering.

- *** Upon prolonged exposure to temperatures about 775° the carbide phase of carbon steel may be converted to graphite. For other applications refer to appropriate section of B31 Code for Pressure Piping.
